Creative Exercise: Cut More Than You Think You Can In Order to Enhance Your Art…

Whether you’re working on a novel, polishing a script, editing a film or just your own vlog doesn’t matter—always try cutting more than you’re comfortable with. This is often referred to ask killing your darlings. Sometimes you might over-cut but you won’t know unless you eliminate more than you’re comfortable with. Often times, you find that most of the stuff you had isn’t actually needed. Some might need to be put back in, but most probably not. This technique helps you to “omit needless words” in a sense and leave the strongest possible project. Try it and let me know how it works for you. Feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts.
