Leaders Will Always Have to Make Hard Decisions, But There’s Better Ways to Handle Making Them…
I’ve been observing people’s thoughts on Warner Bros. in response to putting their 2021 movies directly on HBO Max upon release. I’m not here to argue whether that was a good decision or not. What I am here to say is this isn’t the first instance I’ve seen of a company or leaders make tough decisions and not involve key people affected by the decision. It doesn’t even have to be as part of the process, but at least giving them a heads up about what has been decided and why. The mistake these companies and leaders make is thinking business is business and it’s perfectly legal for them to do X, Y and Z. But does that make it right? It seems the answer is no. Again, not everyone will be happy, but there’s a better way to handle when having to make tough decisions. And that’s ultimately what I’m advocating and this episode explores.
