Consulting

As a consultant, I can offer feedback, training and input on your project. This tier is great for artists who are looking more for specific, one-time input to help move projects along.

A consultation is meant to be a quick collaboration, typically ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending upon your needs. We will work together to address your concerns and elevate your project to the next level.

Consultations are great for both brand-new artists who are looking for assistance in getting started, or for more established ones who are “stuck” and need fresh insight from someone who has been through the process. It’s also great for people who have a specific area where they want training.

Here are some examples of what we can work on together…

Show Development

So, you have a concept for a show but need some guidance to strengthen or focus it more? I can help you through the process from developing an idea into a concept, creating the show’s structure to finalizing presentation materials such as a deck and sizzle. I can even help you create and practice your pitch to executives.

Editing

I started editing professionally at the age of 15 and it remains a love of mine. I apply my editing skills daily towards the work I deliver and can help you do the same. My mindset is that editing is much more than button pushing, although I understand that too and can help guide you to create various effects using Avid, Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. I’ll can teach you the basics of editing or give you techniques to enhance your content that’s easy and not time consuming.

Feedback

I have seen hundreds of reels, headshots, resumes, cover letters, personal websites, videos, scripts, etc. I know exact techniques that work and don’t work and can help shape your material to stand out from the crowd.

Story

No matter what medium you’re using to showcase your creative projects, the story needs to be compelling and engaging. I can help you to avoid cliches and voice a universal truth that will speak to audiences globally.

Graphics

Every creative project needs some sort of graphics – even a novel needs a cover. In the 21st century, it’s even more important to have consistent and clever artwork across all platforms (website, social media, product, etc) to convey your message and target potential fans. How do you create such artwork? I can help.

Hosting

Whether you’re a new host that wants to learn the basics or someone who’s been hosting for a while and wants to grow, I can help.  If you already have a show put together, I can provide you with feedback and notes, addressing any specific concerns you have as well as giving you insight based upon my years of experience knowing what works. I’ll then create a strategy with exercises for you to do that will hone your hosting skills to the next level like I’ve done for countless hosts at AfterBuzz TV, Popcorn Talk and Black Hollywood Live.

Production

Most art requires people and/or equipment. So how do you utilize both in the most efficient and cost-effective manner? Well, the answer is case specific but I can help guide you to use best-practices that I’ve learned firsthand and from other people within the industry. I will help you avoid the common pitfalls and more important time and money wasters. Rather than face headaches as you create your project, you’ll be able to focus on the true creative aspects and bring your fullest vision to life.

Budgeting

You need to know where your money is going – both personally and professionally. More than that, you also want to make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck. I can help you there. I’ve been doing productions for cheap since I was a teenager and have learned over the years where you can save some money and where you should not be frugal.

Networking

Many people will say it’s all about who you know. I don’t entirely subscribe to that notion because I believe you also have to have talent and skills, but I do admit that you certainly have to develop and build your network of industry contacts to sustain your career over the long term. After all, artistic fields are collaborative in nature. I can show you ways to meet new people and strengthen past bonds.

Equipment

The 21st century has brought amazing tools to all artists. But which ones are right for you? That’s where I can shed some light. I’m a techie by nature and love staying up to date on new and emerging equipment ranging across all fields – graphic design, editing, filming, podcasting, distributing, etc. Don’t waste time or money on equipment you don’t need. Get the right equipment from the get-go. Furthermore, maybe you have great equipment but don’t know how to fully utilize. I’m happy to navigate you through all settings and features to make your production workflow smoother and your end product better.

Podcasting

I have been in the podcast space before it was even an industry. Through my work at AfterBuzz TV, I’ve helped revolutionize systems and methods to podcast better and cheaper. I can help you customize your podcast gear, format your show, enhance your recording techniques for cleaner sound, edit your MP3 files and publish them in such a way that they get distributed everywhere so you access all podcast audiences and not just one. Before you hire me to work with you on your podcast, I suggest reading my Podcast Guide – it might just answer everything you need. But if you’re looking for more detailed or customized solutions, then I’m happy to help.

Growth Strategy

The goal of any creative person is to reach an audience and connect with them. I have years of proven methods to be able to do just that. I can help you find, sort and understand all your metrics and how to apply them best through social media marketing. Additionally, I have learned inventive ways of reaching targeted fan bases and can help you achieve the same with your content, including creating partnerships with the right platforms.

Monetization

Our art needs to be spiritually fulfilling if it is to resonate with audiences. But it can also provide income as well. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive and I will work with you to create revenue streams through low hanging fruit as well as untapped opportunities.
