Realigning Mentally – 8/24/2021: A Phil Svitek Vlog…
There’s a reason why I call myself the 360 creative coach and that’s because I believe having talent and skills alone doesn’t make you successful—you need to master mental fortitude. That’s because every aspect of life has obstacles along the way and if you don’t train yourself to overcome them, they’ll topple you. And since we’re about 2 months away from filming my upcoming movie, I thought it was a good opportunity to recalibrate everyone’s mindset. But to do that, I needed to realign myself. In this vlog I discuss my therapy session before my cast rehearsal and the importance of that. Then I highlight Dustin Hoffman’s character in Wag The Dog and how I always want to embody the spirit of “This is nothing” as he repeatedly says throughout the film. I talk about the rehearsals themselves and how now I have the footage required to make a full movie rehearsal edit so I can watch it back completely. Now, there were a few sections, like some montages, where we didn’t film that and so I used other films’ clips as placeholders, but still… I even added temp music so everyone knows the rhythm and feel that I’m going for. This sparked an idea to utilize the temp songs during rehearsals moving forward to fine tune the performances. After discussing movie details, I share some other quick side stuff I’ve been up to, like the Quest Room escape rooms I did. There’s lots of nuggets in there for you to utilize, so enjoy. Thanks for tuning in. Also, feel free to ask questions or offer opinions of your own, whether down in the comment section or by hitting me up on social media @PhilSvitek.
