David Foster Wallace delivered one of the best speeches I’ve heard called This Is Water (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CrOL-ydFMI). In it, he talks about the importance of choosing what you believe and how you construct meaning because otherwise your natural, egotistical default setting kicks in. I think this is important to reflect upon and unpack. I worry that we hold the wrong people in high esteem and care mostly about the common denominator. How did it come to this?
