Ways Coding Runs Our World aka Lives – A Reflection on Our Times (5/7/2020)…
During quarantine, I’ve watched several documentaries and one of the recent ones has been Netflix’s Explained. In particular, there’s one episode about how coding shapes our world (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11167964/). That video really got me thinking and I share those various thoughts in this episode. I’ve always understood Marshall McLuhan’s idea of “the medium is the message” and yet never fully thought to apply it to software. Only hardware. Insane, because so much of our lives are run via software. Now, I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom, but we must pause and consider these things because of their importance. That’s my aim with this. Dive into this these notions and questions with me as I offer my two cents on the matter at hand. You may (dis)agree, in which case feel free to offer your opinion as well, whether in the comment section on hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek.
